CECIL ARGUE, MeD

Cecil has more than 30 years of experience working in the Criminal Justice system. He began his career in Pima County (Tucson, AZ) as a Corrections Officer with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center. He transitioned to the Pima County Superior Courts as a Pretrial Services Pre-Appearance Release Specialist and later transitioned to Pima County Adult Probation, where he held the position as a Probation Officer and was soon after promoted to Probation Unit Supervisor. Cecil has held the position as Interim Director of Education Programs with Kaskaskia College. He was responsible for monitoring and overseeing vocational and job training programs provided to inmates in the Centralia Correctional Center (Centralia, IL), an adult prison facility. Since February 2012, Cecil has been in his current position of Inmate Services Programs Manager with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (Ventura, CA), where he oversees education, vocation, treatment, and re-entry planning programs at both the Todd Road and Pretrial Detention Jail Facilities.

Cecil has extensive experience utilizing evidence-based practices, including administering and interpreting offender risk and needs assessments and using Motivational Interviewing techniques to assist offenders in identifying their need to change thinking and behavior. Cecil’s philosophy on changing offender behavior is a combination of changing thinking while providing access to education and intervention programs to address issues of substance/alcohol abuse, anger management, and other personal relationship issues.
